    Salary will be based on qualifications and experience.

    The Fleet Management Division has been recognized by the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) as a “Blue Seal of Excellence” facility since 2006 and by General Motors Company as an authorized warranty center. Fleet Management is committed to providing the most efficient and cost-effective support, maintenance and operation of Gwinnett County’s fleet as well as, ten other local cities and agencies.  With an annual operating budget in excess of $25 million and the leading member of the North Georgia Fuel Co-op, Fleet Management provides the fuel that keeps Gwinnett County moving.

    Level I:  This is the first level of the automotive/equipment repair series. Incumbents are responsible for performing tire and preventive maintenance.
    Level II:  At this level, the employee is responsible for performing journey level work in diagnosing and repairing various vehicles and equipment.
    Level III:  The employee at this level is responsible for serving as a lead to lower levels, assisting in training employees, and performing complex work in diagnosing and repairing various vehicles and equipment.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Level I:  High School Diploma or G.E.D; 
                  Valid Georgia Driver's License;
                  Commercial Driver's License with 6 months of employment;
                  Preventative Maintenance Inspection ASE must be obtained within one 
                     (1) year of employment.

    Level II: High School Diploma or G.E.D;
                  Four (4) years of experience maintaining and repairing light and heavy
                   equipment and vehicles;    
                  Valid Georgia Drivers License;
                  Four (4) ASE certifications in area of assignment;
                  Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of employment;
                  A/C Recycle Recovery Certificate within 90 days of employment.

    Level III:   High School Diploma or G.E.D;
                     Five years of experience maintaining and repairing light and heavy
                       equipment and vehicles;
                     Valid Georgia Drivers License;
                     ASE Master Tech Certification in area of assignment;
                     Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of employment;
                     Refrigerant License within 90 days of employment;
                     Electrical automotive systems;
                     Vehicle diagnostic principles;
                     Applicable laws, rules and regulations and standard safety practices;
                     Operating applicable tools and equipment;
                     Reading and comprehending technical manuals and schematics;
                     Diagnosing and troubleshooting vehicle malfunctions; 
                     Maintaining maintenance records;
                     Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with
                       coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc., sufficient to
                       exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
